So a good capsule wardrobe works in a similar way— it suits you, and makes life easier. You might spend more money on each item, but then you're not endlessly buying cheaper iterations of the same thing trying to look good. And if your best clothes are your everyday clothes, you easily get your money's worth.
It's a simple, beautiful expression of your own personal style. If your personal style changes, it changes with you in an organic way.
Last year, Into the Gloss did a post full of quotes from Diane von Furstenberg's 1976 Beauty book. My favorites:
"If there is one rule for dressing, for fashion, it’s pretty much the same rule as for everything else in life: Don’t go against yourself, don’t go against your own nature. It’s only going to show."
“What makes you attractive is being yourself, being natural, being unaware. Even though makeup is important, you should do it all, and then forget about it. You don’t want to look like anyone else, any more than you want to be anyone else. You want to look like you. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery—but it’s flattering to someone else. Not to you.”Think about this: you look good, and then you forget all about how you look. Pretty liberating. And more time and energy to do what you love.
